Established by David Blackmer, the founder of DBX (another line of fine audio equipment carried by Vintage King), Earthworks is a New Hampshire-based company that is dedicated to quality and sonic excellence. Building upon the revolutionary advancements in VCA’s and true RMS detectors that Blackmer worked on at DBX, Earthworks continues this trend of innovation. By using patented technologies in order to manufacture the “next generation” of professional audio products, each unit is made with great care, meticulous attention to detail and a strong emphasis on quality. As a company, Earthworks prides itself in making only the very best in professional audio equipment right here in the United States.
The Earthworks 1022 belongs to the ZDT series. The ZDT preamplifier series is based on all new discrete circuitry designed by David Blackmer, establishing a new standard of sonic excellence in electronics. This exacting new standard provides frequency response from 1Hz to 200kHz +0.5dB, an incredible rise time of 0.27 microseconds and distortion of less than 1 part per million (0.0001%) - eliminating all possibility of sonic degradation. These preamps are so fast, so clean and so transparent that you don't even know they are there. It is like plugging your microphone into a "piece of wire with gain." You will hear clarity and detail with the ZDT preamps that is not available in any other preamp at any price. Check one out for your studio or other applications that demand the highest quality electronics.

The Earthworks DK25L is for “Live Performance” and has three SR25s: two for overheads and one for kick drum, a KickPad™ and a windscreen. The patented cardioid pattern on the SR25 provides a more uniform off-axis response and has less susceptibility to acoustic feedback. The DK25/L is also ideal for use with multi-miked drums (four or more mics) in either live or studio applications. In such cases it is recommended that two SR25s are used for overheads.

The Earthworks DK25R DK25/R is for “Recording” and has two TC25 omnis for overheads, an SR25 cardioid for kick drum, a KickPad™ and a windscreen. This model is ideal for use in an enclosed acoustic environment or a drum room/booth. For live performance or “multi-miked” drums using four or more mics in a studio application, the DK25/L is recommended.

The Earthworks DK50/R Premium DrumKit™ System for recording provides a dramatic improvement in the sound quality of miking drums. This recording system has two QTC50 omni mics for overheads, one SR30 cardioid mic for the kick, three LevelPads™, a KickPad™ and windscreen. QTC50 Omni Microphone Each QTC50 mic is ideal for digital recording with sample rates up to 192kHz, and even higher where every nuance of sound must be captured. Each has an extended high frequency response from 3Hz to 50kHz and better impulse response. SR30 Cardioid Microphone Earthworks SR30 is the most accurate cardioid microphone on the market. With high frequency response of 30Hz to 30kHz it will capture incredible detail. at 6 inches away from the source it sounds as omni-like as a cardioid can. The off-axis rejection is substantial yet uncolored. Its impulse response is very fast and smooth and the sound stays the same across the entire front hemisphere of pickup. KickPad™ A pad/EQ processor for all cardioid mics used on kick drum. Plug the KP1 and experience an "instant kick drum sound" that is exactly repeatable, every time. This is a real time saver that will work with any cardioid microphone that is used for kick drum. As a passive device, the KickPad can be used with either condenser or dynamic cardioid microphones. LevelPad™ The LevelPad is a high quality, in-line pad. It is switchable to either -15dB or -30dB of attenuation and may be used for mic- or line-level signals. With a frequency response from DC to over 200kHz, it will handle signal levels up to +30dBV with an E.I.N. of -137dBV at -15dB setting and -142dBV at the -30dB setting. A stainless steel tube with gold plated XLR connectors on each end means your LevelPad is built to last.

Earthworks Flex Series microphones offer exceptional intelligibility and sound quality. Their patented pick-up pattern allows an orator to move up to 90 degrees off-axis and still be heard with exceptional intelligibility and sound quality. This is a real advantage for church, civic and corporate podium speech applications. As an added plus, the Flex Mics smooth off-axis response will provide more gain before feedback. The flexible neck allows adjustment of microphone positioning with no handling noise. Flex Mics are intended for podium use, however they can also be used as hanging choir or orchestra microphones. Their sound quality is comparable to our other high quality cardioids for a variety of applications such as vocals, piano, acoustic instruments and even drums. They are flat from 50Hz to 20kHz within + 2dB at 6 inches and will handle up to 145dB SPL. In addition to smooth frequency response (on and off-axis), they have impressive impulse response, diaphragm settling time and pristine sound quality that is not usually available in podium microphones. Earthworks Flex Mics provide high intelligibility for clear audible communication. Specifications:
Frequency response: 50Hz to 20kHz +-2dB
Polar pattern: cardioid
Sensitivity: 8mV/Pa (-42dBV/Pa)
Power requirements: 48V phantom, 10mA
Max acoustic input: 145dB SPL
Peak output voltage: 10V
Output: XLR intended to drive a balanced input (pin 2+)
Min output load: 600 ohms between pin 2 and pin 3
Noise: 22dB SPL equivalent (A weighted)
