Introducing the smartest Glyph drive yet.
The original Glyph GT 062 became a standard in both the audio and video production worlds. The new
GT 062E
improves on a good thing by adding an eSATA port, which enables over 200MB/s sustained transfer rate in RAID 0 mode. Using Oxford's new 936DSE chip, the GT 062E supports higher capacity drives, allowing RAID 0 and Spanning capacities up to 4TB. Connected by FireWire 800, USB 2.0, or eSATA (with Glyph's Highpoint card), the GT 062E reports the health of the two internal drives using Glyph Manager software. With dual Seagate SATA drives under the hood, there's plenty of speed for applications like Final Cut Pro, Avid Xpress, and Adobe Premiere. With tons of speed and reliability, the GT 062E is ideal for audio and video editing, content creation, and huge sound libraries.
Configurable in Three Drive Modes
RAID 1
offers data redundancy and real-time backup by writing the same data to the two hard drives at the same time. Should a drive failure happen, data is still available on the remaining drive.
RAID 0
(striping) increases the performance of the drive system by spreading the data across two drives. RAID 0 is a proven technology for editing video, working with huge graphics files, sound libraries, and streaming instruments that play hundreds of samples simultaneously. RAID 0 is the default shipping drive mode.
Spanning
mode simply shows the two internal drives as one large volume.
Similar looks, advanced functionality.
With the GT 062E, Glyph Manager has also greatly expanded in functionality. A software utility for setting the GT 062E drive mode, Glyph Manager 4 also displays health status of the GT 062E case and drives inside. The new version reports case temperature, fan speed, individual drives' health status and temperature, as well as any drive errors or rebuild failures. Glyph Manager constantly monitors the health of the GT 062E as a background task using S.M.A.R.T. commands, and if a problem is detected, it alerts the user by blinking the front LED red, and bouncing an icon in the Mac OS X dock or displaying an error balloon from the Windows System Tray. By predicting drive failure, you have a chance to backup your data before any is lost.
Stylish Protective Enclosure
The GT 062E is constructed with a scratch-resistant black powder-coated aluminum chassis, as well as a unique 1/8" thick brushed stainless steel face plate. The aluminum chassis offers additional heat transfer properties while allowing the drive to be lightweight and portable.
Professional Power
Professionals know that a high quality power supply is one of the most important components in any piece of equipment. Glyph uses internal power supplies in all GT series products for this reason. All internal power supplies are fully auto-switching for international use.
Portable & Rackable
The GT 062E has pptional rack-mounting kits for either one or two drives in a 1U rack space also available.
The Warranty
The best warranty in the industry includes a 3 Year Full Warranty, 2 Years of Free Level I Data Recovery, and 1 Year of Free Overnight Advance Replacement.
* Pro Tools does not support the 3TB and 4TB model when in RAID 0 or Spanning mode

The
Glyph PortaGig 50
builds on the success of the PortaGig 800, and adds a couple cool new features. Bus-powered with FireWire 800 or USB for optimum compatibility, it also includes an eSATA port for the fastest speed possible, up to 100MB/s. eSATA is not a bus-powered interface, however, you can use the eSATA connection for data transfer while simultaneously using the FireWire 800 connection to power the drive. This allows the fastest connection possible AND bus power from FireWire. An external power supply is included with the PortaGig 50 if bus power is not available.
Even though it's tiny, PortaGig 50 can support high-track count audio sessions and bandwidth-intensive video. Glyph Manager software constantly monitors the drive and enclosure health, notifying you if there is a problem, allowing you to work on the road easily and reliably.
Connectivity
The PortaGig 50 has a small, portable, aluminum case and runs quietly with its fanless design. Connected by FireWire 800, USB or eSATA, it reports the drive's health and temperature as a background task using Glyph Manager, notifying you if your drive needs attention. PortaGig 50 has a rear power switch, uses an Oxford 934 chip, and is finished off with a classic Glyph styling and a stainless steel face plate. Designed for field recording, moving audio, video, graphics, and prepress files, it includes a universal power supply and a carrying sleeve.
Speeds and Performance
PortaGig 50 drives are available in 7,200 and 5,400 RPM, and use exclusively Seagate SATA II hard disk mechanisms. Seagate drives live up to their reputation for performance, quality, and durability. All models of the PortaGig 50 perform well in an audio environment, however the 7,200 RPM models have slightly higher track counts compared to the 5,400 RPM models due to their higher transfer rates.
Tested and Approved
The PortaGig 50 has been qualified with Digidesign Pro Tools™ to support over 70 tracks of 24bit / 48k audio, with edits.
The Warranty
The best warranty in the industry includes a 3 Year Full Warranty, 2 Years of Free Level I Data Recovery, and 1 Year of Free Overnight Advance Replacement.

The
Glyph Technologies PortaGig 50 SSD
has a distinct advantage over standard 2.5” HDDs since it's made of solid-state memory, and therefore eliminates the possibility of mechanical failure resulting from vibration, shock, and heat. In remote production situations, this means your PortaGig 50 SSD can operate reliably for more hours, in hotter environments, and under rougher conditions.
Why wait for a traditional hard disk drive to spin up? With no moving parts on the solid state drive, it has near-instantaneous read access time. While a conventional HDD must wait for the rotation of the disk to bring the required sector under the read/write head (rotational delay), and for the access arm to reach the desired disk track (seek time), an SSD delivers your data almost immediately.
Quiet and Green
Absolutely no noise is generated from the PortaGig 50 SSD, and much less power is needed for operation, which means less heat is generated as well. This also provides substantial weight savings.
Performance in an audio environment
PortaGig 50 SSD drives have extremely fast access speeds, making them a perfect match for remote audio and video work. In an audio environment, you'll experience extremely high playback performance, even at high edit density. Using our Digidesign Pro Tools™ test sessions, (playback only) we were hard pressed to find the limits of the PortaGig 50 SSD. Just to compare, our PortaGig 50 (using a 7,200RPM HDD) can reliably play 26 tracks of 48 KHz/24-bit audio, with 3 edits/second across every track. The PortaGig 50 SSD can play 128 tracks in this scenario, hitting the limit of our test session. That's more than 100 tracks higher than our standard PortaGig 50, at the hardest edit density. While playback performance is off the charts, Glyph continues to recommend HDD versions to achieve high recording track counts. The PortaGig 50 SSD can record up to 40 tracks of 48 KHz/24-bit audio simultaneously, while the PortaGig 50 (using a 7,200RPM HDD) can record up to 80 tracks simultaneously.
Connectivity
Designed with a fanless, aluminum enclosure, PortaGig 50 SSD is bus powered and extremely light. If bus power is not available or is insufficient, you can use the included power supply. Weighing 8 ounces, it has two FireWire 800 ports, one eSATA port, and one USB 2.0 port, a rear power switch, and is designed around the industry-proven Oxford 934 chip.
Long Life
Built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) functionality ensures highly reliable data transfer, while wear leveling technology redirects writes to lesser-used locations, ensuring a longer life span and data-retention.
A cool drive is a healthy drive
Our unique heat transfer technology draws heat from internal components, moves it to the aluminum exterior to dissipate, reducing the chance of component failure.
Health Monitoring built in
Connected by FireWire 800, USB or eSATA, the PortaGig 50 reports the drive's health and temperature as a background task using Glyph Manager, notifying you if your drives needs attention.
Designed and tested in the USA
First we select the highest quality components available. Then we assemble the drives in our US factory, and perform regimented testing on every unit before it ships to you.
Best Warranty in the Industry
We are confident that our drive systems perform at the most reliable level. We back them up with a 3-Year warranty, 2-Year Free Basic Data Recovery Policy, and 1-Year Advance Replacement (U.S. Continental 48 States only).
