Founded in 1966 by Bob Heil, Heil Sound quickly made its mark on the live sound industry with artists like The Grateful Dead, The Who, Joe Walsh and Vintage King client Peter Frampton. Scores of touring artists turned to Heil Sound in the 60s and 70s for the necessary gear and continue to do so today. Internationally recognized by musicians and industry executives alike, Heil Sound won the first ever AES Pioneer Award as well as the Parnelli Award and, to this day, is the first ever audio manufacturer invited to display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 2007, Bob Heil traveled to the Hall of Fame with a collection of historically important audio gear created by Heil Sound, including the first modular console, his custom quadraphonic mixer and the very first Heil Talk Box. Vintage King Audio offers an expansive array of Heil Sound Microphones, including the PR35, Mic Pro Plus, Heil Sound Heritage and several others.
The Heil Handi Mic Pro Plus represents completely new dynamic microphone technology designed for a wide range of professional applications such as live sound, commercial broadcast, and sophisticated recording. Its wide frequency range outperforms the tired, 30+ year old industry technology and can withstand huge amounts of SPL. The end result is a microphone that can answer the call to any application. The Handi Mic Pro Plus is ideal for use with tom drums where smaller microphones are needed, as well as inside Leslie speakers. The Handi Mic is perfect for an interview microphone where its small size makes it a very low profile microphone with great sound.
Since 1982, Heil Sound has been the leading manufacturer of communications microphones and has a paramount understanding of phasing. When properly applied, this knowledge creates outstanding cardiod patterns with unbelievable rear rejection that removes unwanted sounds that try to enter from the off axis rear. The pattern control of the Heil Handi Mic Pro Plus is outstanding. This exceptional performance is achieved by using the ideal combination of materials for the large low mass diaphragm and a special mixture of neodymium, iron, and boron that gives the Handi Mic Pro Plus the strongest magnet structure available.
Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind, entering them out of phase. Thus, the Handi Mic Pro Plus produces a very linear cardiod pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving perfect articulation. This new Heil element is usable in extreme high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions making it perfect for vocal and live sound applications.
The Handi Mic Pro Plus is supplied with a standard 5/8" -27 mic clip, a unique wall mount and a foam windscreen.
From the Professional division of Heil Sound, Ltd., we present the PR-20, a professional quality dynamic cardioid microphone designed for commercial broadcast, recording and live sound reinforcement applications which require a smooth flat response over a wide frequency response. The PR-20 has a comparable sound to the finest condenser microphone because of it's wide frequency response, excellent transient response and low IMD. Following a 20 year Heil tradition, the new PR-20 exhibits gorgeous natural speech articulation without having to apply heavy electronic equalization. Truly one of the most natural and pleasant sounding dynamic microphones, ever.
The Heil engineers have created a very rugged microphone with superior low handling noise by mounting the very wide frequency response dynamic element into a special sorbothane shock mount system. This low handling noise and exceptional lack of bass-boosting proximity effect makes it ideal for professional uses.
The PR-20 achieves it's exceptional performance by using a special magnet structure and a large aluminum 1 1/8" low mass voice coil assembly. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind the source entering them out of phase thus producing a very linear cardioid pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving the extreme articulation across it's smooth 40 - 18,000 Hz. frequency response. The new Heil 'PROLINE' element is usable in extreme high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions as a condenser usually will be. It produces a beautifully smooth audio response without the inconvenience of phantom or outside d.c. powering.
The cardiod pattern offers the greatest rejection at 180 degrees off axis which is directly behind the microphone and creates virtually no off-axis coloration while providing the greatest possible rejection of unwanted audio.
The Heil PR-20 professional microphone is delivered to you in a classy leatherette carrying bag including the mic clip and acoustical foam windscreen.

The PR-30 is the perfect replacement for 30-year-old condenser technology.
Whether it's commercial broadcast, studio recording, or live sound reinforcement, the PR-30 is a professional dynamic microphone designed for applications that require a smooth, flat output from a wide frequency response (40Hz-18kHz). A specially designed magnet structure and large, aluminum 1-1/2" low-mass voice coil assembly make this possible. In addition to a carefully wound and placed humbucking coil, the components of the PR-30 are engineered to minimize external noise and provide pure articulation. A unique dual pop screen design ensures that breath blasts never hit the diaphragm directly. The result of all this is a perfect representation of the voice that is virtually unpolluted by external noise.
Heil Sound PR-30 Dynamic Studio Broadcast Microphone Features:
Large 1-1/2" aluminum diaphragm
Wide frequency response
End fire, cardioid pattern
Low handling noise
Natural articulation

The PR-40 is a full-range dynamic mic designed for broadcast and studio applications, and is the only dynamic mic with the ability to reproduce frequencies as low as 28Hz. The unique, copper-wound voice coil uses a mixed metallic magnet structure that creates a magnetic field 10 times stronger than most mics. Coupled with a large 1-1/2", low-mass, quilted aluminum diaphragm, this makes for tremendous low-frequency response and low distortion throughout the PR-40's wide frequency range. A unique dual pop screen design ensures that breath blasts never hit the diaphragm directly.
It’s Funky. It’s Fun. It’s the Fin
Drawing on the technological developments designed into the PR20 dynamic microphone, Heil Sound's The Fin meets all of the performance requirements found in high-level sound reinforcement applications while adding a one-of-a-kind visual element to the stage. Like the PR20, the Fin uses a proprietary large diaphragm dynamic element and unique Heil magnet structure combination for performance unlike any other dynamic mic on the market today. With a frequency response of 60 to 18kHz, output level at -55 dB @1000 Hz and its concise cardioid pickup pattern, the Fin is perfect for a wide variety of applications. The Fin has a cardioid pattern with uniform front to back discrimination.
In the category of “Here’s something you don’t see everyday,” the Fin is outfitted with four blue L.E.D lamps mounted inside the art deco show chrome body of the microphone, that can be activated from the phantom power supply of a mixer. A switch on the underside of the mic turns the lamps on or off. A blue molded internal foam windscreen inside the grill enhances the looks of the Fin and combines with a specially tooled Sorbothane® shock mount, which combines shock absorption, vibration isolation and vibration damping characteristics to protect the mic element. Standard microphone stand threads allow the Fin to be mounted on booms or floor stands. The Fin is perfect for vocals, instrument amplifiers, harmonica, and speech, and puts the fun back into the dynamic microphone.
