Building on API's rich heritage of extremely high quality recording consoles, we introduce the Model 1608, a full featured small format recording console based on the vintage API 1604 console, which has held its demand and value for over three decades.
 
The API 1608 gives all of the advantages of the 1604 Vintage Consoles while adding new, modern features valuable to today's Engineers, Producers and Musicians.
 
The 1608 is built to the same exacting API build standards as our Vision consoles, Legacy consoles, and modular products.

Question 2:

"Summing is identical to old design or new cheaper design?"

Answer: 
The old 1604/2488 summing buses were not balanced, and therefore much noisier than the New 1608, so it's not the same as the old consoles, it's tons better(it's certainly not cheaper, it's more expensive, but it's the right thing to do...). The 1608 uses discrete 2520's and transformers for the summing amplifiers, just like all the old API's do, but with balanced summing buses.

Expanding on the sonic clarity and full-featured control of the ASP8024 console, the ACS version brings integrated workstation control right where you want it: between the speakers. The ACS bay can receive a Digidesign Command|8 or Mackie Control Universal control surface into any of the console bays, allowing instant ergonomic control of transport functions, software mixing and plug-ins. A 15' or 17' TFT monitor mounted on the meter bridge and space for your keyboard and mouse mean that you no longer need to leave the sweet spot to tweak your plug-ins. In addition, the ACS model also includes a new level of finish:

Analog vs. Digital Today, digital equipment is really very good - for some things. However, Audient believes that the 'digital' solution is not universally 'best'. Music recording consoles are an example. For primary recording, the inadequacies of existing digital formats are well recognised. DSD, 96kHz and 192kHz all move the digital recording path a little closer to what is possible with the best analogue signal processing. The ASP8024 is the result of a research and development programme that was driven by the simple goal of establishing a new 'standard' in cost effective analogue recording -delivering a product that is truly 'technology proof' while at the same time providing the accepted and familiar functionality and performance of existing 'high-end' large scale systems. 
The ASP8024 is a full-featured in-line console with 24 track assign switches and 14 aux busses. It has been designed using the 'short signal path' criteria, where the audio signal routing through the console is kept to the absolute minimum, resulting in the highest possible signal quality at the outputs. The center section includes extensive metering, monitoring and foldback capabilities with Main Monitor outputs plus an additional 3 Alternate Speaker outputs and a built-in Stereo Bus Compressor. The 4 band channel EQ's can be split into two parts, and switched into the short signal path.
