Bass Traps

The Primacoustic Cumulus is a triangular broadband acoustic corner trap that effectively absorbs sound energy from 125Hz and up. Designed to fit in corners where the walls and ceiling meet, the Cumulus takes advantage of the natural propagation of sound that occurs in all rooms. Sound waves follow the wall and ceiling planes and accumulate in the corners, a well known hot spot in small rooms. <ul><li>Triangular focal point trap mounts in the corners</li><li>Highly effective in small rooms due to sound migration</li><li>Unobtrusive design fits any decor</li><li>Quick and Easy to mount</li></ul>The Cumulus is amazingly compact. Each side is 24" in length and, when in place, creates a 12" deep air space cavity behind the panel that increases the bass absorption characteristics. Mounting Cumulus traps in a room will generally yield a significant reduction in the problematic low-mid region while leaving the architectural design of the room virtually intact. Invisible mounting is achieved using spring-tensioned clasps and a single eye-screw. Mounting literally takes minutes and because of the reverse beveled edges Cumulus traps flush mount 'seamlessly' into the room esthetics. This makes the Cumulus the perfect acoustic starting point for rooms such as home theatres or smaller production suits that have limited wall space and suffer from saturation of lower mid-range frequencies (known as 'boomyness'). The strategic placement of the Cumulus in the ceiling corners plus the air cavity it creates there, helps flatten out low-mid room response.

The Primacoustic FullTrap is an attractive 24" x 48" x 8" broadband absorber designed to effectively control bass as low as 75Hz and extend well above the threshold of human hearing. The Primacoustic MaxTrap is a great looking 24" x 48" broadband acoustical absorber designed specifically for use in corners to provide all important bass frequency control while simultaneously reducing mid and high frequency reflections. It is well documented that wall and ceiling planes tend to reflect and guide bass energy into corners. With this knowledge, acousticians almost always look at situating bass traps in corner joints where walls intersect. <ul><li>Combination 3-way broadband corner trap</li><li>High-density fiberglass panel with resonator membrane</li><li>Easy to assemble 24" x 48" flat pack wood frame</li><li>Effective from 65Hz and up</li></ul>Working like a 3-way speaker in reverse, the MaxTrap employs three acoustic principles in one device: High frequencies are absorbed with a fabric covered 3" thick high-density fiberglass panel. Behind the panel is a 16" deep open air space to reduce low-mid and bass frequencies. Deep bass down to 65Hz is absorbed by a heavy, dead mass in the form of a diaphragmatic membrane. Powerful bass frequencies set the membrane into motion, converting sound energy into heat. RealTraps MondoTraps and Corner MondoTraps offer more low frequency absorption than any other bass trap product we know of. They absorb twice as much as MiniTraps below 100 Hz, and proportionally more above 100 Hz too. When very high performance at low frequencies matters more than anything else, Mondo Traps are the obvious choice.
 
Corner MondoTraps are very similar to regular MondoTraps except they have beveled sides to fit more nicely into a corner to hide the edges. Even though the panel is a full four inches thick, the rear portion telescopes into the corner so it appears only one inch thick. This is a cosmetic difference only. The drawing at right shows the top view of a Corner MondoTrap so you can see the shape.
 
Standard Mondo Traps and Corner MondoTraps are 2 feet wide by 4'-9" tall by 4-1/4 inches thick, and weigh 28 pounds. [Metric: 61 x 145 x 11 cm, 13 kg]
 
We also offer a shorter but deeper version 2 by 4 feet by 6 inches thick [Metric: 61 x 122 x 15 cm, 10 kg] for places where a full-height MondoTrap won't fit. Note: this shorter version is not available in the corner style with beveled edges.
 
The optional stand shown at left lets you avoid permanent wall mounting, or easily move them around as needed. Corner MondoTraps mount just like regular MondoTraps, but for stand mounting they fit best with Wall Stands rather than our regular stands as shown here.
