When 12 Channels Aren't Enough
Just slightly larger than our 1202-VLZ3, the
Mackie 1402-VLZ3
offers everything its little brother has—plus two additional mic/line channels, faders instead of knobs, and a few extra Master Section features. Ideal for home and project studios, the 1402-VLZ3 is equally at home on the road, on the stage, or in the recording studio. With its new look, ergonomic carry handle, and upgraded electronics, the new 1402-VLZ3 just might redefine the term “perfection.”
While keeping all the features and functionality of its predecessor, the new Mackie 1402-VLZ3 offers even greater headroom. We could have stopped right then and there, but we’re obsessed with perfection. So we redesigned the Mix Bus, tweaked the EQs, and created a mixer with a highly intuitive, musical feel.
Vastly Superior XDR2™ Mic Peamps
Our new XDR2 (Extended Dynamic Range) second-generation mic preamps are better than ever. These new pres offer incredibly low noise, with individual mic pre THD below 0.0007%, and overall mixer THD less than 0.0025%. With 60dB of available gain per channel, the 1402-VLZ3 can handle inputs ranging from a whisper to a scream, and can even handle hot line-level signals up to +22db, without any added coloration. You simply won’t find preamps this good on any other mixer in this price range.
Equalization
We invested tremendous resources optimizing the center frequencies of our 3-band Active EQs. By selecting 80Hz, 2.5kHz and 12kHz, for the Lows, Mids and Highs, respectively, we created an even more musical EQ than on previous VLZs. With up to 15dB boost/cut capability per band, VLZ3’s Active EQ provides more tone-sculpting latitude than any other mixer in its class.
Professional Features
The Mackie 1402-VLZ3 is packed with premium features on every mic channel: 75Hz Low-Cut filters, two Aux Sends, inserts, phantom power, constant-loudness Pan controls and Pre Fader Solo. And since you can never have too many output options, we provided a Control Room/Phones source matrix, Master Aux section with EFX to Monitor, tape outputs, a high-volume headphone amplifier and balanced XLR and TRS outputs.
Need Even More Flexibility?
Greg Mackie's mind was working overtime when he originally came up with this—instead of sending muted signals into the vacuum of space, why not do something useful with them? So, when you press the mute button on the 1402-VLZ3, the signal is indeed muted—but it also appears at the ALT 3-4 output jacks and ALT 3-4 stereo bus. This is an ideal way to create additional Aux Sends and mixes for cry rooms, green rooms, or assistive listening, etc. And with a press of a button, the ALT 3-4 mix can be assigned to the Main output—which means ALT 3-4 can act very much like a "mixer within a mixer." For instance, you could assign the backup vocals to the ALT 3-4 bus and then use the CTL ROOM/SUBMIX fader to add them back into the main mix. Now one fader controls the level of those channels as a single unit.
1402-VLZ3 VERSUS 1202-VLZ3
At 12.9" x 14" x 3.2", the 1402-VLZ3 is just slightly larger than the 1202. It features two more mic/line channels, and for those of you who prefer sliding to twisting, 60mm, long-wearing, log-taper faders versus the 1202's rotary pots. And that’s just the obvious stuff. Under the hood the 1402-VLZ3 has an assignable Solo AFL/PFL switch, independent Left and Right Main output faders, and a Level Set LED.
Built Mackie Tough
All VLZ3 mixers are built tough-as-a-tank. Our legendary solid-steel chassis can take the kind of abuse that would turn our competitors' flimsy boxes into twisted chunks of debris. Instead of cheap, unsealed potentiometers, we use co-molded pots, which offer substantial strain and impact relief. By design, our control knobs 'ride' just above the surface of the chassis, so if something falls onto the mixer, the impact is transferred from the knobs to the chassis—not to the potentiometers or circuit board. Finally, we use thick, horizontally mounted fiberglass PC boards to eliminate the potential for damage and brace them with a shock-absorbing support structure. They’ve survived earthquakes, hurricanes and typhoons, so Mackie mixers can certainly handle whatever you throw at them.
Versatility
You'll find Mackie mixers everywhere you go—from video post-production facilities, to major artist tour buses, to duty as field mixers for news departments of all the major networks. Drummers and keyboardists use them to send submixes to front of house and monitor consoles. VLZ3 compact mixers are the ideal choice for any situation requiring superior audio mixing, especially where space and/or budget constraints are an issue.

Live and Recording Multi-Tool
With its sleek new look, upgraded preamps and EQ circuitry, the new
Mackie 1642-VLZ3
redefines perfection. With the same features and functionality of its predecessor, the re-engineered Mackie 1642-VLZ3 has even greater headroom than the original. We could have stopped right then and there, but since we’re obsessed with perfection, we redesigned the Mix Bus and made significant enhancements to the EQs, giving the 1642-VLZ3 a more intuitive and musical feel.
The 1642-VLZ3’s three unique channel strip formats allow you to input and shape any kind of signal, including mic, line, and stereo instruments. Whether you need a live mixing board for club work, or a full-featured workhorse for home and studio recording, you owe it to yourself to check out the new Mackie 1642-VLZ3. You’ll think it’s perfect, too.
Vastly Superior XDR2™ Mic Peamps
Our new XDR2 (Extended Dynamic Range) second-generation mic preamps are better than ever. They offer incredibly low noise, with individual mic pre THD below 0.0007%, and overall mixer THD less than 0.0025%. With 60dB of available gain per channel, the 1642-VLZ3 can handle inputs ranging from a whisper to a scream, and can even handle hot line-level signals up to +22db, without any added coloration. You simply won’t find preamps this good on any other mixer in this price range.
Three Kinds of Channel Strips
1. Channels 1–8 are essentially the same as those on our 1604-VLZ3, with mono line-level input and our ultra-high-quality XDR2 mic preamps. These VLZ (Very Low Impedance) mic pres offer superior sound quality and the best RFI rejection of any compact mixer on the market.
2. Channels 9/10 and 11/12 (two physical channel strips) each provide a stereo pair of line-level inputs and a mono XDR2 mic preamp.
3. Channels 13/14 and 15/16 (also in two physical channel strips) each provide a stereo pair of line-level inputs only, with fixed 4-band equalization at points that are specifically designed for line-level inputs, such as keyboards, sound modules, etc.

Small mixer.
Big performance.
Until now, mixers built for low-input, two-mic or one-mic-and-a-guitar applications really skimped on quality. With their flimsy construction and dismal sound, they resembled and performed like children’s toys. So we created the 402-VLZ3, the perfect ultra-compact mixer for applications that require few inputs, but demand full-on professional sound.
The 4-channel 402-VLZ3 delivers pure VLZ3 quality in our smallest form factor ever, making it ideal when your input counts are low, or when space is at a premium. In a sleek, small package, you get the signature VLZ3 high headroom, low noise design, complete with 2 XDR2 preamps, premium EQ, and modern mix bus architecture, for the best-sounding, mini-est pro mixer on the planet. And the price is mini, too—in fact, it’s our lowest price in recorded history for a VLZ3 mixer. At last, you no longer need to buy more mixer than you need just to get the quality you deserve.
XDR2 preamps
Extended Dynamic Range=Extended Sonic Possibilities
XDR2Among the features that have earned the VLZ3 mixers their stellar reputation are the XDR2 “Extended Dynamic Range” mic preamps. That’s because serious amounts of time and energy went into their design, and the result is phenomenal. You simply won’t find preamps this good on any other mixer in this price range. The XDR2 preamps deliver pure, clean, studio-grade sound—the kind of quality you’d expect to find in pricey boutique mic pres. They have an incredibly wide frequency range, especially in the low end, and even at extremely high gain settings. They offer incredibly low noise, amazing RFI rejection, and with 60dB of available gain per channel, the 402-VLZ3 can handle inputs ranging from a whisper to a scream. With the superior sound of the 402-VLZ3’s two XDR2 preamps, rest assured you will always get optimum performance out of your professional ribbon, dynamic, and condenser mics. Read more
Musical EQ for Your Tweaking Pleasure
EQ Knobs The 402-VLZ3’s ultra-musical 2-band Active EQ provides just the right amount of sound shaping flexibility. We invested tremendous resources into optimizing the center frequencies of our EQs, and improved the interaction of the separate EQ bands, so your tracks can be molded and tweaked for the perfect result. The 402-VLZ3’s low shelving at 80Hz and high shelving at 12kHz mean you can quickly and effectively sculpt your tone for the ultimate in punch and brilliance—and with up to 15dB boost/cut capability per band, you get loads of latitude. There’s also a 100Hz low cut/high pass switch for each mic input, so you can keep the ultra-low frequency muddiness out of your sound—and give your bass that extra punch if used in conjunction with the Low EQ. Small Yet Powerfully Flexible
Though small in stature, the 402-VLZ3 provides an incredible abundance of professional features and mission-critical tools to enhance your mixing experience—and your creativity. In addition to essential features like phantom power for your condenser mics, you get a variety of user options that make the 402-VLZ3 a surprisingly versatile mixing machine. Two switchable Hi-Z instrument inputs allow you to plug instruments like electric guitar or bass in direct—no external gear required—or, disengage the switch to connect line level sources such as keyboards, or CD or mp3 players. Use the high pass filters on channels 1 and 2 to cut the rumble with the touch of a button. Connect line level stereo gear like DJ decks using the assignable stereo RCA input, and either route to your phones for queuing up, or to your main mix for overdubbing while monitoring back from your computer on phones. Flexibly monitor and record mono and stereo sources using the stereo pan function—when the switch is out, a mono source will be split between the left and right of the main mix equally, and when the switch is in, channels 1 and 2 are hard-panned left and right (perfect for recording stereo mics). Keep an eye on your levels with the bright 8-segment stereo meters, as well as the responsive overload LEDs that warn you when you’re overdoing it with the gain and/or EQ. No matter how you use it, the 402-VLZ3 supplies everything you need to get the job done.
Ultra-compact, sleek, rugged chassis
ProfileNow you can have your pro mixer, and take it with you, too. The 402-VLZ3 features a tight, low-profile design that fits the most modest—or congested—areas perfectly, including your backpack or laptop case. Like all VLZ3 mixers, the 402-VLZ3 is built like a tank, too. Our legendary solid-steel chassis can take the kind of abuse that would turn our competitors’ flimsy boxes into twisted chunks of debris. Instead of cheap, unsealed potentiometers, we use co-molded pots, which offer substantial strain and impact relief. By design, our control knobs ‘ride’ just above the surface of the chassis, so if something falls onto the mixer, the impact is transferred from the knobs to the chassis—not to the potentiometers or circuit board. Finally, we use thick, horizontally mounted fiberglass PC boards to eliminate the potential for damage and brace them with a shock-absorbing support structure. And not only is the 402-VLZ3 tough, but it can be flexibly positioned, thanks to a bottom panel that lets you easily mount an optional mic stand adapter with just a few screws. Attach your 402-VLZ3 to a mic stand, and you can adjust its height and angle to suit your unique—or weird—work style.
Applications A-Plenty
With its professional features and ultra-compact footprint, the 402-VLZ3 is ideal for a variety of applications, including home studio and on-the-go recording, multimedia projects, field mixing, broadcast use, and post-production work. (Check out our hookup guide to see how you can put it all together.) And the included Tracktion 3 Basic Bundle music production software makes it that much easier to get right to work, and get inspired. Less Really Is More
The best-sounding, most professional ultra-compact in its class, the 402-VLZ3 gives new meaning to the old adage, less is more. Thanks to its ultra-flexible, super-versatile, professional design, you get the low input count you want, the extra space you need, and the quality you deserve—all at an unbelievably low price. Put simply, the 402-VLZ3 is the go-anywhere, fit-anywhere professional mixer, delivering superior sound quality—and unbeatable value.

Seamless Intergration
The 12-channel Onyx 1220i delivers stunning performance in a size that is decidedly desk-friendly. Premium analog features like boutique-quality Onyx mic pres, smooth 60 mm channel faders and the proven tone-sculpting capability of Perkins EQ allows for performance that is unmatched in this category. The 16x2 built-in FireWire interface will simultaneously deliver all 12 channels, all auxes and the master L/R signal straight to your favorite DAW with zero routing. How easy is that? You can even return a couple of channels from the DAW right back into a channel strip for mix integration. It’s easy, it’s professional…it’s the Onyx 1220i.
DAW-Friendly Doesn't Even Begin To Cover It
Mackie-designed gear is more often than not, the result of customer interaction and suggestion. After all, we are making gear for you. For years, our customers have been asking for the freedom to work with any DAW they choose. So when we designed the Onyx-i series, we took this suggestion to heart. We are very proud that Onyx-i mixers are more DAW-friendly than any other interface ever. Onyx-i mixers are qualified by Mackie for use with all major DAWs, including Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8*, Logic©, SONAR™, Cubase© and more. Now, dedicated Mackie customers can enjoy using their Mackie mixer with the world’s most popular DAW. And Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8 users now have a variety of new, and different, tools to use with their favorite DAW. It’s a win-win situation.
Deep Firewire Intergration
The Onyx-i Series features deeper FireWire integration than any other mixer out there and offers immensely powerful routing capabilities:
Wet or Dry?
— Every channel on the mixer can be routed pre or post EQ to the computer, allowing you to choose whether to implement ‘EQ to tape’ or not. Studio Quality Effects—All aux sends are routable to the computer, allowing you to utilize your computer as a powerful FX engine by implementing your favorite plug-ins in a live scenario.
Preserve Your Mix
— Master L/R is routable to the computer for recording your analog mix. Burn and sell CDs of the mix at the end of the gig!
Mix Integration —
Stereo return from the computer can be routed to either the control room for instant monitoring or to a stereo channel for mix integration.
Latency-Free Overdubs —
Having a “real” mixer has its benefits. Latency-free overdubs are simple since you are using an analog mixer. No more wasted time dealing with the complicated “DSP” mixers commonly used on standalone interfaces.
The 1220i delivers seamless, routing-free FireWire connection to your favorite DAW. All channels, auxes and (of course) the master L/R are simultaneously available to your DAW, with zero routing. The Onyx-i FireWire connection has amazing bandwidth, and the 1220i takes full advantage.
Premium Analog Mixer
When it comes to the high pressure environment of a recording session or live performance, you simply cannot beat the stability and reliability of an analog mixer. With features honed over 20 years of design by some of the legends in the industry, the Onyx-i Series mixers are simply the best sounding full-featured analog mixing boards available to the modern sound engineer.
The 1220i has a plethora of analog features that are sure to please. First off, there are four Onyx mic preamps which have been proven as some of the best boutique quality preamps available today. That is, without having to re-mortgage your house in order to pay for all the inputs you need. Then there’s the Perkins EQ, which offers highly musical Q filter without sacrificing the precise control that Mackie EQs are known for. Four mono mic/line channels feature 3-band Perkins EQ with a sweepable mid and the additional stereo line channels have 3-band EQ. So, regardless of the type of signal you need to input, there is sure to be a channel with the right EQ for the application. Other analog tools include two aux sends with pre/post fader assignment, allowing for monitor mixes, effects loops or additional headphone mixes. There are built-in DIs on the first two channels for direct connection of guitars or bass and a dedicated talkback section with a built-in mic that lets you easily communicate with band members while on stage or recording. With all these proven, great-sounding analog features, it is easier than ever to create a memorable mix.
Smacks Of Quality
The Onyx 1220i offers a tremendous collection of professional analog features and extremely deep DAW integration, but it is so much more than that. The sleek, modern design might even tempt you build a museum quality display for your engineer friends to admire. Plus, since it’s a Mackie, you can be sure that it is “Built-Like-A-Tank” and will survive years of abuse.
Any audio company can cram a bunch of inferior components into a chassis and, believe us, a lot of them do. This is never the case with a Mackie mixer. Everything about the Onyx-i Series smacks of quality, because only the most quality, high-end components are used throughout the entire signal path. At the front end, you have the pristine signal boost offered by the Onyx mic preamps, which will likely get routed through the legendary Perkins EQ. The signal then passes through a series of sealed rotary knobs, which keep dust and grime out of the potentiometer. Then your mix hits the summing bus, which has been custom-designed to offer the highest possible headroom while preserving the sonic quality offered by the aforementioned components. Maybe you assigned the signal to stream across the FireWire outputs. If so, they had the pleasure of passing through the high-quality Cirrus analog-to-digital converter on their way to your computer. Or maybe you were overdubbing and streamed your backing tracks from your DAW and integrated them into the mix. In that case, you can thank the ridiculously high-end AKM digital-to-analog converter for the immaculate quality of the playback. These converters are extremely high-quality and easily rival the most esoteric (and expensive) interfaces out there today. From start to finish, no matter how you use it, the 1220i offers the quality demanded by industry professionals.

Bring on the Band
Eight full channels of mic pres and four stereo channels means there are few sessions that the
Mackie Onyx 1620i
cannot handle. Each mic channel features 4-band Perkins EQ with dual sweepable mids, providing truly professional tone-shaping. Band-friendly features like the dedicated talkback section with built-in mic allow you to easily communicate with the talent, whether behind the glass or in front of stage monitors. Deep FireWire integration, along with complete platform support allows you to easily record in the studio, or at the gig. The matter is settled then…the 1620i is a true band workhorse.
Wet or Dry? —
Every channel on the mixer can be routed pre or post EQ to the computer, allowing you to choose whether to implement ‘EQ to tape’ or not.
Studio Quality Effects —
Aux sends are routable to the computer, allowing you to utilize your computer as a powerful FX engine by implementing your favorite plug-ins in a live scenario.
Preserve Your Mix —
Master L/R is routable to the computer for recording your analog mix.
The 1620i delivers hassle-free FireWire connection to your favorite DAW. All channels, auxes and (of course) the master L/R are available to your DAW. And since you can return your DAW outputs straight into a channel strip, mix integration is easier than ever.

Better Mic Pres. More Headroom. Enhanced Routing. And Much More.
Building on the success of our legendary SR24•4 mixing console, Mackie is proud to introduce the new Onyx 24.4 24-channel / 4-bus live sound console. While retaining the same convenient footprint as its predecessor, the state-of-the-art Onyx 24.4 brings dozens of new features and enhancements to the table: 100mm Panasonic® faders, premium Onyx mic preamps, completely redesigned analog circuitry with more headroom, greater routing flexibility, new Perkins EQ, and a built-in assignable stereo compressor/limiter. And we're barely scratching the surface.
Better Sound By Design
The Mackie Onyx 24.4 leaves the competition in the dust when it comes to sound quality. The difference starts with premium Onyx mic preamps on every channel (click here for an interactive tour of the Channel strip), which offer greater dynamic range and transparency versus any other mixer mic preamp on the market. Newly designed 4-band Perkins EQ offers the sweet, musical sound of the legendary British consoles of yesteryear, yet with greater filter control. And while the 24.4 is not the first mid-format console to offer an onboard compressor/limiter, we specified a THAT® Corporation 4301 assignable stereo compressor/limiter, and then had it custom tailored specifically for the Onyx 4-bus Series. Finally, overall mixer sound quality and headroom has also been raised, thanks to the use of premium components, completely redesigned summing bus circuitry, and an electronically balanced design throughout the entire signal chain. Add it all up, and the Onyx 24.4 gives you big, full-range sound and even lower noise than esoteric mixing consoles costing much more.
ONYX Mic Preamps: Affordable "Boutique" Quality
Although our highly-acclaimed XDR mic preamps set high standards for quality and performance, Onyx mic preamps offer even greater fidelity, headroom and transparency—as well as better radio frequency (RFI) rejection and wider dynamic range than ever before. Numerous magazine and online reviews have confirmed Onyx preamps sound just as good as many “boutique” standalone mic pres—with specs like 123dB total dynamic range, -129.5 dBm Equivalent Input Noise, and 0.0007% Total Harmonic Distortion. Click here to learn more about Onyx mic pres. Read more.
Perkins EQ: Sweet "British" Console Sound, Only Better
We called on veteran audio engineer Cal Perkins to develop the EQ circuitry for the Onyx Series, and in turn Cal designed an extremely effective and musical 4-band EQ, with sweepable low- and high-mids—perfect for live sound mixing. Called the Perkins EQ, Cal's new circuitry builds on the classic Wein Bridge circuit used in the British mixing desks of the '60s and '70s, providing greater filter and phase shift control. Perkins EQ offers more control over harmonic content than any other EQ on the market, and it's only available on Mackie products. Read more.
Assignable Onboard Stereo Compressor/ Limiter Section
Compression is an indispensable tool in a sound engineer's arsenal. That's why we integrated a high-quality master compressor/limiter chip from THAT® Corporation into the Onyx 24.4. This assignable compressor/limiter is perfect for tightening up vocal harmony and balancing drum kits. Controls are provided for Threshold, Ratio and Fast/Slow Attack, and the compressor can be assigned post-fader to the L/R main mix (for system limiting and speaker protection) or pre-fader to Group 1/2 or 3/4 outputs (for grouped signal compression, like drums or background vocals).
Matrix Mixer and Master Section
If total control over signal routing, talkback/monitor mixing, and external effects processing is what you seek, then look no further—the Onyx 4-Bus Series Master section has everything you've come to expect from a Mackie mixing console, and more. The onboard 6 x 2 Matrix Mixer is the solution to the “not-enough monitor send” blues. Not only can you use the Aux Sends to generate up to six monitor mixes, but the Matrix Mixer can be used to generate two additional independent mixes—ideal for IEM (in-ear-monitor) systems, cry rooms, green rooms or other zoned outputs. Visual monitoring of Solo, Main output and compression/limiting is expertly handled via four, giant 12-segment LED ladders. And even the Sub Groups feature 4-segment LEDs, so you know what signal levels are at glance. Click here for a guided tour to the Master section.
Balanced Mic/Line Direct Outputs
If you plan to use the Onyx 24.4 for live recording, we've included another invaluable feature: convenient balanced Mic/Line direct outputs for every channel. No longer will you need to run a splitter, or take individual direct outs from the board to your tape or hard disk recorder. Thanks to three DB-25 female connectors (configured with standard Tascam® pin outs) on the rear of the console, you can quickly route all mic/line signals to an external device. All of these balanced direct outs are pre-fader and switchable via internal jumpers as either pre- or post-EQ. So there's only three cables between the Onyx 24.4 and your recorder—it just doesn't get any easier than this.
Built Mackie Tough
Because we at Mackie know how tough the road can be on equipment, we designed the Onyx 4-Bus Series to handle almost anything you can throw at it. Vertical aluminum supports are placed strategically to maximize the structural integrity of the solid-steel chassis. And because these boards get moved around a lot, we designed comfortable carry handles right into the sides—even though they are portable enough to just tuck them under your arm and go.
Designed with a practical and easy to understand layout, anyone from a Sunday morning volunteer operator to a seasoned professional engineer can quickly learn to operate the Onyx 24.4 console. This makes it perfect for a wide range of live applications including churches, small- to medium-sized clubs, touring bands, and rehearsal facilities, just to name a few. With stunning sound quality and renowned Mackie engineering—combined in a full-featured, portable, highly affordable, mid-format mixing console—the Onyx 24.4 is destined to set the new standard.

Raising The Bar For 32-Channel Live Sound Consoles.
How do you improve upon a hugely successful mixer? With a heavy dose of R&D, that's how. Building on the success of the legendary SR32•4, Mackie is proud to introduce the new Onyx 32.4 32-channel / 4-bus live sound console. Retaining the same convenient footprint as its predecessor, the ultra state-of-the-art Onyx 32.4 brings dozens of new features and enhancements to the party: 100mm Panasonic® faders, premium Onyx mic preamps, completely redesigned analog circuitry with more headroom, greater routing flexibility, new Perkins EQ, and a built-in assignable stereo compressor/limiter. And we're barely scratching the surface.
Better Sound By Design
The Mackie Onyx 32.4 sounds noticeably better than any comparably-priced 32-channel mixer on the market today. And with good reason. Finally, overall mixer sound quality and headroom has also been raised, thanks to the use of premium components, completely redesigned summing bus circuitry, and an electronically balanced design throughout the entire signal chain. Taken together, the Onyx 32.4 gives you big, full-range sound and even lower noise than esoteric mixing consoles costing much more.

Assignable Onboard Stereo Compressor/ Limiter Section
Compression is an indispensable tool in a sound engineer's arsenal. That's why we integrated a high-quality master compressor/limiter chip from THAT® Corporation into the Onyx 32.4. This assignable analog stereo compressor/limiter was designed and manufactured in the US by veteran analog engineers, offering true RMS Detection and Auto Make-up Gain for extremely accurate and musical results. This reduces the need for separate outboard processing.
Master Section
The feature-packed and performance-optimizing
Mackie Onyx 820i
is the most compact and desk-friendly version of the Onyx-i Series. With eight channels, three Onyx mic preamps, two aux sends, talkback, flexible control room routing and a variety of Perkins EQ configurations, there is plenty of analog goodness to go around. Plus, FireWire I/O lets you route all channels, auxes and the master L/R to nearly any DAW for recording and return a stereo signal to the control room or into a channel for mix integration. The 820i packs a big punch in a very small package.
Deep Firewire Integration
The Onyx-i Series features deeper FireWire integration than any other mixer out there and offers immensely powerful routing capabilities:
Wet or Dry? —
Every channel on the mixer can be routed pre or post EQ to the computer, allowing you to choose whether to implement ‘EQ to tape’ or not.
Studio Quality Effects —
All aux sends are routable to the computer, allowing you to utilize your computer as a powerful FX engine by implementing your favorite plug-ins in a live scenario.
Preserve Your Mix —
Master L/R is routable to the computer for recording your analog mix.
The flexibility offered by the 820i allows you to work faster and more intuitively than ever before. Imagine a world where your recording sessions run smoothly, every single time. Dream of a live sound mix that is both archived for history and simultaneously recorded multi-track for later mixing. No need to dream, the 820i is here.
The 820i has a plethora of analog features that are sure to please. First off, there are three Onyx mic preamps which have been proven as some of the best boutique quality preamps available today. That is, without having to re-mortgage your house in order to pay for all the inputs you need. Then there’s the Perkins EQ, which offers highly musical Q filter without sacrificing the precise control that Mackie EQs are known for. Two mono mic/line channels feature 3-band Perkins EQ with a sweepable mid, the stereo line channels have 3-band EQ and (talk about flexibility) a unique hybrid channel features 4-band Perkins EQ.
The Onyx 820i offers a tremendous collection of professional analog features and extremely deep DAW integration, but it is so much more than that. The sleek, modern design might even tempt you build a museum quality display for your engineer friends to admire. Or maybe you were overdubbing and streamed your backing tracks from your DAW and integrated them into the mix. In that case, you can thank the ridiculously high-end AKM digital-to-analog converter for the immaculate quality of the playback. Undeniable Power!
ZoomUltra-light and completely self-contained, the
Mackie PPM1008
professional powered mixer features two ridiculously robust power amps for mains and/or monitors (800W + 800W). With 1600 watts of system power, the PPM1008 is in a class of its ownfully capable of powering a huge system (try a couple S215s AND a pair of C300s!) We custom designed the PPM1008 with Class-D amps, which are cool-running and boast maximum efficiency, keeping your sound pumping until they start kicking people out. We had to include Mackie’s proven Fast Recovery circuitry, eliminating the risk of pesky amp latching. The result is a distortion free mix even when pushing peak levels. The built-in limiter can go toe-to-toe with the most popular outboard stereo limiters used in live sound today, protecting your speakers from damage. The limiter’s attack and release times are specifically selected to address full-bandwidth music and will not muddy things up by adding any unwanted pumping. PPM mixers are surprisingly lightweight, but tremendously powerful. You can push the PPM1008 to its maximum output, distortion free!
The Right Tools for the Job
Most powered mixers out there have either a limited set of mixing tools—keeping your mix decidedly average—or they cram in a mind-boggling amount of lame effects that you would never use. Every professional carries the right tools for the job, so the PPM1008 comes with a great-sounding, highly useable toolkit:
Premium Mackie preamplifiers ensure transparent, low-noise/high-headroom characteristics right at the front of the mixer. The PPM1008 offers 8 mic/line channels with trusted Mackie preamplifiers.
True 48V phantom power allows every condenser mic to perform at its full potential.
Legendary 3-band active EQ straight off the tremendously popular VLZ3 mixer series. Sweetening any channel is a breeze.
Individual channel inserts (ch. 1-6) allow compressors and other outboard processing on critical instrument or voice channels. Don’t leave the lead singer hanging!
Dedicated in-line compressors on channels 1-4 bring simple but sweet dynamics to our PPM mixers.
Dual graphic EQs are provided for use with mains and monitors. These EQs feature tight, constant-Q Filters that effect only the frequency range you’ve intended, unlike many inexpensive built-in graphic EQs that will remain nameless.
Simple stuff like useable main and monitor output metering make a huge difference in your mix. Sorry, but 5 LED meters at the output doesn’t tell you that you’re about to clip. Our high-resolution 12-segment meters enable more visibility of your signal, and the super quick response of the meters allows what you see to translate quickly and easily to what you hear.
“Gig Ready” Effects
The all-new RMFX+ (Running Man FX) 32-bit effects processor brings “gig ready,” useable effects to your mixes. Why scroll through hundreds of bizarre effects, like “ghost ambience?” Yeah, like anyone even knows what that means. Or how about winners like “delay+phaser2”, which you’ll never use in a million years. Those other mixers will leave your fingers raw from all the scrolling you have to do. The RMFX+ processor features 24 solid FX that are known for their utility and usability. Small, medium and large room reverbs with the choice of a warm or bright characteristic put your mix in the right space. Simple, rich choruses and an array of practical delays enable you to create professional mixes without requiring a two-hour sound check. Also, the RMFX+ is the first onboard processor to feature a user tap function. So if you want to use a delay, but our preset delay time doesn’t work, you can tap it in instantly! Basically, we’ve delivered a full rack of gear at your fingertips that is easy to master, allowing you to look really and sound really good at your next gig. Really, really good.
Absolutely Armored
The PPM1008 is fully armored inside a solid steel chassis, helping to protect the electronics from any potential environmental hazard (Think beer.) Extremely durable polycarbonate ABS end caps will protect the PPM1008 from years of abuse caused by tossing it in and out of the truck or falling off the stool at rehearsal. Each PPM1008 features rounded front with recessed controls, so if it rolls on its face in the van or gets kicked over at the show, you can be sure that it will emerge damage-free. Two metal side handles allow you to easily pick it up and get going. It’s ultra-light so you won’t need both hands!
Matching Made Easy
Look, we want to make things as easy for you as possible. Matching speakers to amps can suck the fun out of an otherwise pleasant trip to the music store. Keeping that in mind, PPM mixers and Mackie passive speakers were made for each other. We even included the one-touch Precision Passive EQ button, which is designed to make our speakers sound better than ever. From our popular C series (C300/200) to our S series (S200/S400), we designed our mixer to match the power requirements of our passive speakers perfectly. Try driving a pair of S225 15” speakers off someone else’s mixer. You can almost smell the smoke now! Yet this is child’s play using a PPM and a pair of our S225’s. We easily provide enough power for a complete system. In fact, we’ve got the bollocks to drive two of our S215 15” 2-way speakers off the mains AND a pair of C300s as Monitors without needing outboard amps. Others may try but, ultimately, don’t provide the necessary power.
So if you want a truly professional set of tools for your next gig, including a Mackie mixer, onboard compressors, Fast Recovery amplification, twin graphic EQs, and “gig-ready” effects, pair up a PPM1008 and any Mackie Precision Passive loudspeakers for the ultimate, portable, professional P.A. system.

Power to the Desktop!
Zoom Ultra-light and rack-mountable, the
Mackie PPM1012
professional powered desktop mixer features two ridiculously robust power amps for mains and/or monitors (800W + 800W). With 1600 watts of system power, this mixer provides all the raw power that you need. Things can get pretty intense out there, and your gear needs to be able keep up the pace. We custom designed the PPM1012 with Class-D amps, which are cool-running and boast maximum efficiency, keeping your sound pumping until they start kicking people out. You can push the PPM1012 to its maximum output, distortion free!
The Right Tools for the Job
Most powered mixers out there have either a limited set of mixing tools—keeping your mix decidedly average—or they cram in a mind-boggling amount of lame effects that you would never use. Every professional carries the right tools for the job, so the PPM1012 comes with a great-sounding, highly useable toolkit:
Premium Mackie preamplifiers ensure transparent, low-noise/high-headroom characteristics right at the front of the mixer. The PPM1012 offers 8 mic/line channels with trusted Mackie preamplifiers.
True 48V phantom power allows every condenser mic to perform at its full potential.
Legendary 3-band active EQ with mid-sweep straight off the tremendously popular VLZ3 mixer series. Sweetening any channel is a breeze.
Individual mono channel inserts allow you to use your favorite compressor or other outboard processing on a critical instrument or voice. Don’t leave the lead singer hanging! They are also great direct outs for recording.
Dedicated in-line compressors (ch. 1-6) bring simple but sweet dynamics with the single twist of a knob.
Dual graphic EQs are provided for use with mains and monitors. These EQs feature tight, constant-Q Filters that effect only the frequency range you’ve intended, unlike many inexpensive built-in graphic EQs that will remain nameless.

No worries, integrated USB I/O takes the pain out of recording. Just connect the ProFX12 to a laptop, start up your included copy of Tracktion 3 Music Production Software (or almost any DAW software out there) and you can record the whole mix. You can even stream music from your laptop during breaks. Once you get home, record more tracks or use the ProFX12 to playback some tunes during your next party. Unless you’re anti-social, don’t have the right kind of place for a party or are just sick of buying food and beverages for everyone. In that case, you can play back whatever talk-radio show you listen to when alone.
Not only that, the innovative “USB Thru” switch allows for an impressive live/recording setup when using performance software like Ableton Live or Reason. When gigging, stream the output of your performance software (or iTunes, for that matter) into the ProFX12. Combine that signal with anything plugged into the mixer, and send the whole thing back to the computer for recording. Archiving your integrated live performances has never been easier!

And it’s likely that you drag around a ton of gear that rarely, if ever, gets used. For most gigs, you just want it to sound good, but get done as easily as possible. Enter Mackie’s ProFX Series, delivering a live sound toolbox that does just that. High-headroom mic preamps, great-sounding effects, smooth compression, flexible channel EQ plus precision GEQ to tune-up the room or monitor mix. Sounds good, right? Use the compressors on channels 5-8 for vocals, bass or anything that’s dynamic and needs to sit a little better in the mix. Finally, you can stop obsessing about the vocal level and riding the fader like it’s going out of style.

Small, medium and large room reverbs with a mix of a warm and bright characteristics puts your mix in the right space. Simple, rich choruses and an array of practical delays enable you to create professional mixes without requiring a two-hour sound check. Basically, we’ve delivered the choicest parts of a full rack of gear, right at your fingertips, that is easy to master, allowing you to look and sound really good at your next gig. Really, really good.
Record and Stream via USB
With all the right tools for the job, the ProFX8 allows you to create memorable mixes, but even with all those features, portability is paramount and you can’t be burdened with lugging around additional equipment. No worries, integrated USB I/O takes the pain out of recording. Just connect the ProFX8 to a laptop, start up your included copy of Tracktion 3 Music Production Software (or almost any DAW software out there) and you can record the whole mix. You can even stream music from your laptop during breaks. Once you get home, record more tracks or use the ProFX8 to playback some tunes during the next BBQ. Unless you’re a vegetarian…not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The innovative “USB Thru” switch allows for an impressive live/recording setup when using performance software like Ableton Live or Reason. When gigging, stream the output of your performance software (or iTunes, for that matter) into the ProFX8. Combine that signal with anything plugged into the mixer, and send the whole thing back to the computer for recording. Archiving your integrated live performances has never been easier!
Legendary Mackie Durability
Mackie is known for building mixers that are “Built-Like-A-Tank” and the ProFX8 is no exception. All of its tender bits are securely encased in a solid steel chassis. No only that, the impact-resistant side pieces are made of ultra-tough ABS, adding extra protection where it is most likely to fall…not that you drop things.
PA Made Painless
Mackie Precision Passive and Mackie Active LogosSimple is better. A utility mixer like the ProFX8 is an integral part of a ludicrously simple Mackie PA system that sounds great. The only choice is whether to go “active” or “passive” with your loudspeaker setup.
Active —
Just add Mackie SR, SA, SRM Series Active Loudspeakers or SWA Series Active Subwoofers
Passive —
Add a Mackie FR or FRS Series Stereo Power Amplifier and S200 or C Series Precision Passive Loudspeakers
The legendary quality of Mackie loudspeakers combined with the utility of the ProFX8 is a lethal combination that will suit just about any size venue. Just add enough speakers, and you’re golden.
Budget Friendly
The ProFX Series Compact Effects Mixers strike the perfect balance. They offer all the right tools to get the job done well, sport the popular compact footprint that Mackie is known for and are also the most budget-friendly of all the Mackie sound reinforcement mixers. Our competition either doesn’t have the expansive feature set of the ProFX Series, or they simply will not survive the test of time. You are investing in your mixer and the ProFX will be there for you at every gig, ready to roll.

In a “footprint” of less than 2 square feet, the compact, 16-channel
PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2
offers 8 mono input channels and 4 stereo channels and provides 12 XMAX™ Class A solid-state mic preamps. (Well, okay, it actually has 13 XMAX preamps; the Talkback input has one, too.)
But don't let its size fool you; the 16.0.2 is jam-packed with features and processing power, employs the same workflow and easy-to-use mixing-surface design as the bigger StudioLive boards, and sounds every bit as good, with the same high-definition, wide-dynamic-range, digital converters.
Features
8 mono mic/line channel inputs, each with:
High-headroom Class A XMAX™ mic preamplifier
XLR mic and balanced ¼" line inputs
60 mm precision fader
4 stereo line channel inputs, with:
High-headroom Class A XMAX™ mic preamplifier (Ch. 9, 11, 13, and 15)
XLR mic inputs (Ch. 9, 11, 13, and 15)
Balanced ¼" line inputs (Ch. 9-16)
Unbalanced RCA line inputs (Ch. 13-16)
60 mm precision fader (4 stereo)
4 Auxiliary buses (pre/post-fader send)
2 Internal FX buses
2 stereo 32-bit digital effects processors with customizable reverb and delay presets
Fat Channel signal processing on all channels and buses, with:
3-band semi-parametric EQ (individual band on/off)
Full-featured compressor
Standard downward expander
Limiter
Phase reverse (12 mic preamplifiers only)
Pan with dedicated 15-LED display
Stereo link for input channels and aux buses
High-pass filter
One 31-band stereo graphic EQ (on main outputs only)
16-in/16-out FireWire recording interface (24-bit/44.1 kHz and 48 kHz)
Compatible with most audio software via ASIO, Windows Audio, Core Audio
Scene store and recall
Settings can be copied among channels and buses and saved as user presets.
Software bundle for Mac® and Windows® includes:
PreSonus Studio One Artist™ digital audio workstation
PreSonus Capture™ live-recording software
PreSonus Universal Control with Virtual StudioLive™ bidirectional mixer-control software
Lockout mode protects your settings from meddlers and accidents
MIDI Control Mode provides control over:
Scene and FX Preset recall
Main Volume, FXA, and FXB output levels
FXA and FXB assign/unassign to Mains
Free StudioLive Remote iPad® wireless-control software available at the Apple App Store
PreSonus' first compact mixer with MIDI control from a footpedal.
Moreover, a glance at the rear panel reveals that "Junior" offers something the two bigger boards don't: MIDI In and Out. You can recall Scenes from a DAW using MIDI Program Changes, control the main output volume and effects level, and even mute effects between songs—all thanks to the magic of MIDI control.
What was then is now: complete store and recall.
Two factors work against getting that Perfect Mix with an analog mixer. First, the Perfect Mix can be hard to reproduce a week, day, or hour after you perfect it. And second, a good mix should be dynamic: levels, effects, and EQ should be tailored to each song or segment of the show, service, or presentation.
StudioLive solves this problem by letting you save all of your digital settings for quick setup and recall.

You'll never go back to an old-school analog mixer once you've used StudioLive™. With its incredible signal-processing power on every channel, easy store and recall of every setting, and the ability to record it all with just two mouse clicks, you'll get spoiled fast! Easier to use, better sounding, and flawlessly integrated with state-of-the-art software, it delivers the most creative environment possible for both live performance and studio music production.
But StudioLive is not simply a mixer, it's a rapidly growing family of state-of-the-art, integrated hardware-software mixing and recording systems that deliver the features you need for live sound, live recording, and studio recording.
The
PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2
is a fine choice for those who want to mix small to medium-sized shows and worship services, and it's a great choice for club systems, corporate applications, and educational institutions. And it's the perfect hardware core for a project studio.
Here, in one device, are high-headroom XMAX™ microphone preamplifiers, a built-in FireWire recording and playback interface, more than 90 signal processors, a big library of DSP effects, 10 aux buses, 4 subgroups, extensive LED metering, mixer save and recall, channel-strip save/recall/copy/paste, talkback, and more. Yet despite its many controls and features, it's compact and easy to transport.
Build live mixes that glisten with clarity and detail—then record and enhance the performance with the power of StudioLive 24.4.2. Get creative in the studio. Build mixes, loops, sound effects, and more, then bring them out to your show and mix them with the live performance. Process channels using your favorite plug-ins and completely automate your entire performance. StudioLive 24.4.2 revolutionizes music production, opening endless creative possibilities.
See it. Touch it. Change it: the ease of analog meets the power of digital.
When we designed StudioLive, one of our primary goals was to provide a familiar interface that would keep all critical controls visible and accessible—not buried inside multiple menus.
Sit down at a StudioLive 24.4.2, and you see real hardware Mute and Solo buttons, trim controls, and clearly labeled, individual knobs for the parametric EQ and dynamics processing. The master section—complete with Talkback, Monitor, Cue, and a choice of headphone sources—looks just like the master section on an analog board but with far more power and flexibility. Aux sends have their own controls. Every channel has a big, bright meter display.
Bottom line: if you've ever used an analog mixer, you'll be right at home with a StudioLive 24.4.2. And even if you've never used a mixer before, you'll quickly be able to create quality mixes and recordings.
Which StudioLive is Best for You?
Your mixing and recording needs aren't necessarily exactly the same as everyone else's. That's why we created a StudioLive family of digital mixers, starting with the StudioLive 16.4.2 and the StudioLive 24.4.2.
Why choose the StudioLive 24.4.2 rather than the StudioLive 16.4.2? Let's say you want more than 16 channels but want to keep your system compact. Perhaps the acts and events you mix require lots of monitor mixes, so you need more than the six auxiliary buses in the 16.4.2, and you want fully parametric EQ, rather than semi-parametric. You could use an enhanced gate with Key Listen and Key Filter features, and a Threshold control on the limiter would be handy. A stereo graphic EQ on the mains is mandatory but you also want graphic EQ on the subgroups and auxes at times—four dual-mono, 31-band graphic EQs would do the job nicely. No problem! You get all of these enhancements and more with the 24-channel, 10-aux, StudioLive 24.4.2.
A gigantic console in a small package thanks to the Fat Channel.
If StudioLive were an analog console, it would have 4-foot-long channel strips packed with knobs and buttons or it would require a massive outboard rack of expensive signal processors! That's because each channel has its own studio-grade compressor, limiter, gate, 4-band parametric equalizer, and high-pass filter. In all, we've packed 43 compressors, 43 limiters, 43 gates, 24 high-pass filters, and more, into one remarkable Fat Channel.
Engaged by pressing any Select button, the StudioLive 24.4.2's Fat Channel features extensive EQ and dynamics for every input channel, every aux output (including the two internal FX buses), every subgroup output, and the main outputs.
To let you get the most from all of this processing power without descending into menu purgatory, we designed the Fat Channel with clearly labeled physical knobs; an ingenious, multi-function, 16-ladder LED display; an in-your-face Selected Channel display; and even a separate horizontal pan display. It's easy to instantly access any function and get clear, visible feedback.
Not just effects. Effects you'd expect from a $600 stand-alone processor.
You get two programmable, 32-bit, stereo DSP effects engines, loaded with 50 reverbs, delays, and time-based effects that you can really use. The reverbs are so rich and detailed that you feel like you're there. Delays are precise. Slap echo sounds like old-school tape effects. All 50 effects have easy-to-use parameter adjustment, tap tempo, store, recall, and Scene selection for ultimate creative flexibility.
The StudioLive 24.4.2's 4 dual, 31-band graphic equalizers can be applied to the main, subgroup, and aux outputs so you can compensate for room acoustics, speaker response, and much more.
All of these features add up to a lot of settings to remember and reset at every performance. That's where the power of digital comes in: StudioLive lets you save all of your digital settings for quick setup and recall. Save Scenes that include every setting on the mixer or save just the Fat Channel settings. Copy-and-paste settings across multiple channels. Save individual DSP effects for ultimate ease, speed, and control.
This means that for fixed applications like clubs, churches, and auditoriums, you can always count on the same sound and can fine-tune Scenes for different songs and call them up instantly. And it lets rank amateur volunteers successfully operate the StudioLive 24.4.2.
We've included a whole library of individual channel settings as starting points for optimizing the sound of instruments, vocals, and spoken word. An AutoStore feature regularly saves your current settings in case the power fails.
Recording made easy.
If you have a computer with 6-pin FireWire, you have a 26-track digital recorder instantly ready to capture your gig, church service, or presentation. Just two mouse clicks engages Capture™ recording software. Studio One Artist™ digital audio workstation lets you edit and enhance to your heart's content.
StudioLive 24.4.2 features a tightly integrated FireWire interface that delivers up to 32 channels of recording and up to 26 channels of simultaneous playback. Each FireWire recording channel can be set to record either pre- or post-Fat Channel signal processing, delivering total flexibility and power.
Because StudioLive 24.4.2 can so easily return FireWire playback channels from your computer, you can pull off nifty tricks. You can soundcheck your band and fine-tune the P.A. in a new venue, even when the band's not there yet. Or create backing tracks at your studio and seamlessly blend them with live performances.
Inside, it's pure PreSonus.
Ease of use and powerful features only count if the sound quality is equally impressive. After all, it really comes down to how good those microphone preamps are, how clean the signal path is, and how well the algorithms perform.
That's why you should choose a digital mixer made by PreSonus, a company already famous for its analog mic preamps, pristine digital interfaces, and well-regarded signal processors.
XMAX™ Class A preamplifiers deliver more headroom, deeper lows, smoother highs, and a richer overall sound than the preamps found in competing mixers. Ultra-high-headroom, 32-bit floating-point processing is used for all digital mixing. All analog inputs and outputs use the highest quality digital converters available. Synchronization to your computer is stable and robust, thanks to JetPLL™ synchronization technology, resulting in great stereo separation and clear, transparent audio.
StudioLive expands with your input needs.
Need more than 24 channels for mixing live shows and don't need to record? Daisy-chain two StudioLive 24.4.2s via their FireWire ports to get up to 48 input channels and 8 submix buses. If you need more than 24 channels for recording, and you don't need a full channel strip for the additional inputs, you can daisy-chain a StudioLive 24.4.2 with a PreSonus FireStudio Project, FireStudio Tube, or FireStudio Mobile interface. It could not be simpler.
