The next generation of Shorti Patchbays has arrived; this 2x48 audio patchbay is wired to DB25 connectors. This unit features exceptional flexibility with the Audio Accessories, Inc. exclusive Quick-Switch normalling system located on the rear of the panel. The Quick-Switch normalling allows you to set the individual normals on a per jack pair basis. This enables you to full-normal (FN), half-normal (HN) or non-normal (NN) by sliding the switches into the appropriate position. You also have grounding options: isolated, bussed, or grounds vertically strapped (GVS).
We have an excel template that most people find useful for labelling the db25
shorti.
The Avantone Active MixCubes™ are designed to be high resolution, full-range powered mini-reference monitors for fixed or remote locations. The secondary engineering facet was to create a timeless design that compliments a single full range transducer. Performance objective Studios primarily use two-way and three-way large monitors designed to represent a wide range reference viewpoint at higher listening levels. However, in the newly developing age of high-definition audio, there is still a need to hear what your mix will sound like when played back over small “bass-challenged” systems such as televisions, clock radios, computers, car stereos, iPod docking stations, etc. It is important to make mixing judgments based partially on listening to reference monitors that will not impart tonal anomalies caused by crossovers or inferior full range drivers. Particular attention is always paid to the critical mid-range vocal/guitar/keyboard areas. This is where having a full-range monitor without a crossover is truly revealing. More than twelve months of R&D, comparative listening & tweaking went into the voicing of the AVANTONE MixCubes™. The result is a very smooth sounding, full range upgrade from those old familiar 5C Sound Cubes™ engineers were so fond of in the 1980s and1990s. Listening tests reveal that the MixCubes™ have a smoother mid range, more accurate, transparent top end response with extended bass while maintaining the basic characteristics of those original little cubes. A basic Hear Back system consists of a Hub and personal Mixers connected using standard CAT5E cables. A single Hub supplies signal and power to a maximum of eight Mixers. That’s one for you and everybody in the band. If that’s not enough, the Hubs can be daisy-chained using the HearBus In and Out for virtually unlimited system size. The Hear Back Hub can accept analog input signals from audio mixers, auxiliary, matrix, monitor, and/or direct outputs.
The ADAT input can come from digital audio workstations, digital recorders, or digital mixers. For front of house or remotely located digital mixers, we also have the Extreme Extender ADAT In/Out that converts ADAT optical, which has very limited distance, to the HearBus for transmission of up to 500 feet.
Hear Back has several key advantages:
Virtually unlimited system size
Very attractive pricing
Excellent audio fidelity
Built-in DSP Limiter
Very long digital lines possible without loss of audio quality
Audio inputs ADAT, analog, and the HearBus are switch selectable from the front panel.
Local control of up to ten channels of audio (8 inputs plus a stereo Aux input) Master Volume (controls the level to the headphones, line outs and the Aux input to the line outputs)
Built-in DSP Limiter (designed as a “brick wall” limiter for hearing protection and to protect monitor wedges from overload)
Headphone amplifier fault indicator in case of over temperature, or a short, the red LED comes on to alert the user something is a problem.
A second visual trouble shooting aid for the user is the Bus status indicator
Link Indicators – Whenever two pairs of mono inputs are linked for stereo operation the link LED is illuminated
Standard CAT5E power and signal Connection, cost effective, simple, non-obtrusive way to connect eight channels of audio. The Cable is held in place with a “built-in cable strain relief”
Balanced Line-Outs, Mono/Stereo
Stereo AUX In
Built-in Mic Stand Mount may be mounted to a standard mic stand or clipped onto a stand extension bar or clip
High Power – Low Distortion Headphone Amplifiers

The Little Labs STD allows you to use long microphone cables or microphone tie lines to extend your guitar or any instrument cable without the loss of tone and increase of noise associated with long instrument cable runs. It also has two outputs for splitting between two amps or between an amp and a direct injection box, with a selectable ground lift on one output to eliminate ground loop problems. The STD is the perfect solution for: the live player who is tired of the tone sucking wireless rigs but still needs to be able to walk more than ten feet from his amp; the studio player who needs his amplifier in isolation, but himself in close proximity to his band mates; the recording engineer using control room rack mounted direct injection boxes with a player located in the studio or isolation booth. The single transistor unity gain buffer circuit utilized in the STD is mounted inside the special copper tipped phone plug itself. This elegantly simple buffer circuit was designed to load the instrument pickup properly for a natural frequency response regardless of cable length and also will eliminate susceptibility of the cable to extraneous noise sources. The rugged cast aluminum base unit which sits next to the amp or direct injection box contains the mating circuitry which utilizes high quality audio graded parts, including Elna Cerafine and Dale Vishay. The STD base unit is powered by two nine volt batteries that with regular use will last over one year. Little Labs once again has addressed a common studio and live sound problem with a simple effective and reasonably priced solution.
The Radial JDI is considered by many to be the world’s finest direct box. It is a passive DI that employs a Jensen isolation transformer for optimum audio performance offering outstanding linearity at all frequencies, combined with extraordinary level handling without introducing distortion. Being completely passive, the plug & play JDI does not require any powering and has the unique advantage of eliminating 60-cycle ground loops. This makes the JDI a definite favorite with informed audio engineers. The JDI is great for guitars, bass, and keyboards and is particularly adept with high-output, broadband instruments such as active instruments and digital keyboards. The JDI may be rack-mounted using the J-Rak and is also available in a stereo (2-channel) version called the JDI Duplex and the 6-channel rack-mountable JD6. Radial JDI Features:
Jensen Transformer equipped passive DI
100% isolation eliminates ground loops
Virtually zero phase & harmonic distortion
Exceptional signal handling
High common mode noise rejection
The RealTraps Portable Vocal Booth provides an elegant and affordable way to capture dry, clear sounding vocals, even in locations that are less than ideal acoustically.
This clever and light-weight device (11 pounds) mounts on any microphone boom stand to create a highly controlled environment for recording vocals and spoken narration in acoustically hostile spaces. Unlike other products that are too small to be effective enough in noisy or live environments, the RealTraps PVB is much larger comprising a pair of 2 by 2 foot absorbing panels joined with a hinge in a fully adjustable V shape. The integrated base attaches easily and securely to any inexpensive tripod microphone boom stand. The PVB can also be placed directly on a table or other flat surface.
Since the Real Traps Portable Vocal Booth is larger than competing products, it blocks unwanted sound and reduces room ambience much more effectively. As you sing or speak into the booth, it prevents your voice from getting out into the room in the first place. This is far more effective than trying to block room ambience and reflections after the fact.
The graphs below show the amount of isolation you can expect, and how the on-axis frequency response is affected. The photos show how we tested.
