About Duende v3
Solid Reliability: Hybrid
Core Processing (HCP) is a unique approach in how we implement the 4
Sharc DSPs with a huge improvement on the stability of any Duende
device and allows reliable operation of multiple devices at all sample
rates from 44.1kHz to 96khz. Duende will now work alongside third party
firewire devices connected to the same bus without any major problems.Sounds Better: The
algorithms now run at 64-bit accuracy, as opposed to the 40-bit
architecture offered by the Sharc DSPs. This results in improved
resolution resulting in more sonic accuracy.Low Latency: V3 operates
slightly above native latency of the host application with all existing
Duende plugins. When used with SSL ultra low latency MADI Extreme and
MX-4 cards the accumulated latency is now negligible allowing Duende
use with native monitoring, while recording a Virtual Instrument or in
any live application.Offline Plugin Rendering: Any non dynamically automated plug-in can now be bounced faster than real-time.More Power: Duende Mini
and Duende PCIe now both ship with 32 Hybrid Core Processing Slots as
standard with Optional Expansion for up to 128 Hybrid Core Processing
Slots. That means current and future Duende users can quadruple their
plugin capacity with a software upgrade. Duende V3 also adds the
ability to run 4 Duende Units (mixture of Classic, Mini and PCIe) on
one Computer for up to 512 HCP Slots.

SSL’s modular X-Rack/Mynx SuperAnalogue™ mixing and processing system receives two new additions to the range of modules available. The new modules lovingly reproduce the legendary sonic signature of the early 80’s classic, the SSL 4000 E console channel strip that featured so heavily on countless 1980’s recordings. The SSL E Series EQ Module features both of the EQ characteristics found on the classic 4000 E; the uniquely smooth ‘Brown’ EQ response characteristics and the sharper ‘Black’ response curves. The ‘Brown’ EQ sound was featured on the recently discontinued SSL E-Signature Channel Strip so is now uniquely available on the E Series EQ Module.
The SSL E Series Dynamics Module features a Compressor/Limiter and an Expander/Gate, both of which return faithfully to the circuitry and key components which defined the sound of the original SL 611E Series channel strip. A true RMS converter is used in the side chain whilst the gain element is an all discrete design identical to the Class A VCA chip used in the original unit. The compressor contains additional switching options to defeat the over-easy curve and to use a linear release instead of the more usual logarithmic curve. The result is a compressor with three distinct voices, each with its own musical character.

Total Recall™ of settings works in stand alone mode
The X-Rack dynamics module is based on the channel dynamics unit from the XL 9000 K Series console. This incorporates compression, limiting, expansion and gating with a number of options for hard or soft knee operation and peak, or RMS sensing. All of this circuitry is designed using SSL's acclaimed SuperAnalogue design techniques to deliver fantastic sound quality with very low noise and distortion.
The X-Rack's recall capability provides the ability to store presets into Flash memory within the unit. This provides a simple way to save and recall favourite settings and it further integrates with the AWS 900's Total Recall option to provide a single store of all settings that can be archived with a workstation's project. This level of integration is right at the heart of the philosophy of workstation integration that both the XLogic and AWS 900 products set out to address.
Designed to be the perfect level control tool kit for recording, the SSL Dynamics Module is densely packed with control features yet simple to use. The combination of separate Compressor and Gate/Expander section is powerful, graceful and ideal for gentle and unobtrusive level control.

SSL's innovative XRack Mic Amp Module lets you piece together up to eight mic preamps of a classic SSL XL 9000 K. The SSL Mic Amp Module incorporates variable impedance control, phantom power and phase reverse. All of this circuitry is designed using SSL's acclaimed SuperAnalogue design techniques to deliver fantastic sound quality with very low noise and distortion.SSL XRack Mic Amp Features: SSL's Capacitor-less SuperAnalogue Design Variable Impedance Control, Phantom Power, and Phase Reverse Modular Rackmount Design Total Recall SSL's Capacitor-less SuperAnalogue Design SSL put the same ultra-quiet, capacitor-less circuitry in the XRack Mic Amp Module that they put in their super-expensive XL 9000 K mixing boards. With this capacitor-less design, you are assured that no matter how many XRack Mic Amps (or other SSL XRack Modules, for that matter), the units will remain phase linear year after year. This also means that each XRack Mic Amp Module is an identical copy of any other one, providing a uniform sound. The SSL XRack Mic Amp Module is the perfect way to get the classic sound of an SSL preamp section and take it with you in your rack wherever you need to record.Variable Impedance Control, Phantom Power, and Phase Reverse The SSL Mic Amp module for the X-Rack is designed to handle the varied input needs of the project studio. Made using the same SuperAnalogue circuitry as the XL 9000 K console, the X-Rack Mic Amp module sports a killer Mic Pre with 75db of gain, variable impedance control, phantom power and phase reverse, line input with level control, front panel instrument input and High and Low pass filters - all in one tiny box.Modular Rackmount Design By offering the XRack Mic Amp Module in a convenient, vertical rackmount design, SSL is offering an opportunity to piece together a mixed-and-matched setup combining any number (up to eight per XRack) of classic SSL Dynamics Modules, EQs, or Mic Amp Modules. This allows you to build your ideal setup. If you want three pres, an EQ, and four compressors, you can. If you prefer more EQ options than Mic Amp Modules, you can build it. Or if you'd like to have a 4-channel SSL Mic Amp front end with two classic EQs and two Dynamics Modues for post-recording tweaks, you can have that as well. With the XRack's modular design, you can customize the setup to suit your working style, which is quite an innovation - not to mention that all components that work with the XRack boast the legendary SSL sound.Total Recall The truly amazing thing about the XRack Mic Amp Module (as well as the Dynamics Module and EQ) is that the XRack integrates Total Recall - an absolute first in analog equipment. Total Recall allows you to set any or all of the modules in the XRack, dial in your perfect sound, and then save the preset to one of the 32 flash memory locations. Saving presets was once territory only traversed by digital outboard gear and plug-ins, but the XRack from SSL gives you the classic SSL analog sound with the convenience of digital. Once you've built your perfect SSL setup in the XRack and found your ideal sound, save the settings for the next time you need that awesome compression or EQ you used on the last session.
The new SSL XRack Master Bus Module allows control of the X-Rack’s internal Master & Record stereo busses, as well as acting as a studio control room module. It has mix insert and insert sum points, mono compatibility check, and metering of the master out. In addition to this it can be connected to two pairs of speakers (main/mini), and provides dedicated controls for level, dim, and cut.
