Product Description

The Wunder Audio CM7 Fet Microphone
A phantom powered version of the original U47 was released in 1969 known as the U47 Fet. The circuit was quite desirable, using transistors creating a very robust sound. The Fet mic has since obtained a legendary status being the most preferred mic in obtaining larger-than-life Kick and Bass tracks as well as thick and full vocals. The U47 Fet is now becoming as sought after as the U47.

“The R & D for the CM7 FET relied on studying the original U47 closely,” says Wunder Audio’s Mike Castoro. “Employing the exact replica of the original grille is one of the key aspects of achieving the correct performance. We’ve been BETA testing this mic for a year now and are very happy with the progress and end result.”

The Wunder Audio CM7 Fet Microphone comes with a new K47 dual membrane capsule, wooden microphone box, historic shock mount and 1-year warranty.

Dear Mike Castoro/Wunder Audio,

Thank you Wunder Audio for this great new addition to my studio Microphone collection! I bought the new Wunder CM7 FET at the start of 2010. The mic is now a "go to" piece in every session. From beginning to the end of tracking!

It shines in every application, from recording bass drum, front of drum kit, bass amp, guitar amps(open backs and 4x12's), and lead Vocals.

I have compared (a/b tested) the Wunder CM7 FET to my (mint) Neumann FET 47 (circa 1979) only to find that either would make me happy to use in a myriad of ways.

Only the Wunder retails for less than 1/2 of what I paid for my Neumann.

I'm a bit of an audio nerd, so it's a luxury having both. Mostly the Wunder seems a bit hotter in level, and it has a bit more detail, to be fair, it's 30+ years younger than my Neumann. There is modern classic being born here.

Just like 421's, 57's, 1176's etc...The Wunder CM7 FET is legend.

Don't take my word for it??? At 2k a mic, it's worth every buck, euro, or quid. If I'd found this one ten years ago I'd own several by now!

This is my second Wunder mic to own. We've (the Bubble) been using the Wunder CM7 (valve) for about 4 years now. It treats me well!

This Tube mic has had ZERO tech drama, our prized Wunder CM7 recorded lead vocals on JET, Meat Puppets, Built to Spill, ...Trail of Dead, and every band we encounter. Wunder mics are powerful glorious mics.

If price is an issue, the cm7 FET is great for anyone. I am not reaching out to just the seasoned pros, I'm looking to reach the young engineer, creative mind looking to invest in their first "Big Mic", the cm7 FET will be with you on your long journey.
