Dave Trumfio
Dave Trumfio Chicago ex-patriot turned LA "Mover & Shaker / Yacht Rocker ", Dave Trumfio knew he wanted to make recording his life from the day he bought his first multitrack, a Fostex X15 4 track, way back in 1984. Since then, nine multi-tracks and four studios later, he's built a reputation and career as a passionate, personable and "doing whatever it takes" kind of recordist. He currently runs his long time project studio Kingsize Soundlabs in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles where in conjunction with his newly acquired mix room Chateau Trumfio, he engineers and mixes most of the projects he works on. Dave's recent projects range from producing WILLIAM REID of JESUS AND MARY CHAIN fame to recording BUILT TO SPILL (Warner) to producing/mixing SLEEPY JACKSON (EMI Aus). He has also mixed new releases from EARLIMART, BALDWIN BROTHERS (TVT) and PIERRE DeREEDER of RILO KILEY. Dave spent 2005 mixing GRANDADDY (V2) and FUTUREPIGEON (Record Collection) and producing THE ADORED (V2), PATRICK PARK (Hollywood) and LOS ABANDONED (Vapor). Dave's lengthy discography includes work with WILCO, BILLY BRAGG, MY MORNING JACKET, CIBO MATTO, THE MEKONS, NEKO CASE, PALACE and KOOL KEITH to name just a few. Since moving to LA in 2000, Dave has worked with numerous artists including CHUCK PROPHET (New West), ELKLAND (Columbia), JAMISONPARKER (Interscope), EARLIMART (Palm), OK GO (Capitol), MATES OF STATE (Poly Vinyl) and many others

Dave's Top 11 Gear List:
  1. Inward Connections 820 EQ: These things make anything you run through them sound better.
  2. Neve 8068 mixing console: Thee Classic!
  3. Trident 80c mixing console w/ Inward Connections Mods: Rock Classic!!
  4. SPL Transient Designer: Saved my ass on so so many mixing gigs.
  5. API 550 EQ, 560 EQ and 512 Pre: love them on guitars and drums and well, everything.
  6. GML 8200 EQ and SSL G384 Compressor: 2 buss magic! (I think of these as one)
  7. TC Finalizer 96K: can't live without for post AD stuff on 2 buss.
  8. Korby KAT4: What can I say, with 4 great capsules I've only once needed to use a different mic for vocals since I've owned it.
  9. Barefoot MicroMain 27's: these things are almost too good...you really hear what you got, like it or not. I love the built in sub action! I'm somewhat of a "bass-aholic" and these really keep me in check. Also, I don't need to deal with bass management & crossovers.
  10. Bose Wave Radio (aux in); This is a great reference for the new school micro stereos, iPod docks and hyped car systems etc...It's also the same stereo my parents (and I'm sure most Joe Schmoes) own these days!!!
  11. Pro Tools HD3 rig with 48ch of Apogee converters; my best friend... (Sorry honey)
Thanks Dave!
